Finnair strike

Well, this time I got hit as well – but fortunately it only means that I can’t fly out on business travel instead of being stuck abroad. So, Bratislava & Paris for end of the week got cancelled and I’ll spent the rest of the week in town.

200 flights have been cancelled for today and some colleagues have been hit by that quite badly. Talked to some Quality guys and their flights to SanDiego, LTA & China got cancelled, without any clear date yet of when they might be able to leave Finland.

It definitely looks like it won’t be over today or tomorrow yet. Here are the latest news:

There are no talks at present between the striking Finnish Cabin Crew Union SLSY and Finnish airline Finnair (FIA1S.HE), and Finnair spokesman Tanneli Hassinen told Dow Jones Newswires the airline expects the strike to continue at least Wednesday and Thursday.

The reason for the strike apparently is about schedules and discussions about extra days-off that flight crews get to compensate for longhaul flight duties.
